Gagnon's beloved Laurentians is the artist's favourite painting site,
specifically the Baie St. Paul area. Gagnon captures the true spirit
and life of the early Habitants, and is known for his keen sense of
light and the cool shadows upon the snow.
Educated in Montreal, Gagnon spent time in Paris painting from
the sketches he made of Baie St. Paul area before returning to
Canada. He is also well known for his illustrations for the classic
Canadian novel, Maria Chapdelaine.
